A nine-goal, second-period outburst by the Vernon Iron Ghost Construction Tigers has resulted in a third and deciding Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League semifinal.

The Tigers whipped the South Okanagan Flames 15-4 Tuesday, July 11, at the Oliver Arena to even up the series at one win apiece.

The third and deciding game will be played Friday, July 14, at Kal Tire Place in Vernon. Game time is 7 p.m.

The teams were tied 2-2 after 20 minutes before Vernon91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s offensive outburst in the middle frame. The Tigers held the Flames scoreless in the second period.

The contest was cut short with 5:21 left in the third period because of unsafe floor conditions.

Colten Colmorgen led the Tigers with four goals and five assists. Kian Yargeau chipped in six points with 1+5 while Aidan Wattie and Noah Pearson each added 2+2. Ethin Campbell also had a four-point night with a goal and three helpers.

Single markers went to Caden Peters, Isaac Coombs, Joseph Jankowski and Tegan Evans.

Tanner Sunderman had 1+1 for the Flames while Landon Gerow, Sam Babakaiff and Ethank Konno added singles.

The winner Friday will face the regular-season champion Kamloops Venom in the league final.

The Venom dispatched the Kelowna Kodiaks 23-8 Tuesday, sweeping the semifinal.

Game 1 in the best-of-five championship is slated for Sunday, July 16, at the Kamloops Memorial Arena.
