After just eight years of volleyball under his belt, Lake Country's Fynn McCarthy got to represent Canada on the world's biggest stage in July.
The 24-year-old was on Team Canada's volleyball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Unfortunately, the team went 0-3 in round robin play, losing to 3-1 to Slovenia, 3-0 to France, and 3-2 to Serbia.
McCarthy, the fourth youngest player on the team, finished the tournament with 11 points and four blocks. He didn't factor in the scoring against Serbia.
"The main goal in volleyball for me was to go to the Olympics so it was everything I had ever dreamt of, and more. It was a dream come true really," said McCarthy. "There was so many memories created that'll last a lifetime for me."
While he had a good experience at the games, McCarthy is looking forward to competing for the team for the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles.
