Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s retail scene is about to get more diverse.
Mountain Equipment Co-Op and Lee Valley Tools will soon be filling retail gaps left at Orchard Plaza Mall by Target and Future Shop91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s exodus.
Lee Valley Tools, a gardening, hardware, housewares, woodworking and gifts store, is moving into a 17,000 square-foot space in the former Target store.
It opens April 22, much to the pleasure of all those who used to be able to shop only by catalogue or at the Vancouver and Calgary stores.
At the other (north) end of the mall, in the 20,000 square-foot space once occupied by Future Shop, MEC will be opening April 23, and will feature a full-service shop for bike and ski repairs. The Vancouver-based co-operative, with four million members across Canada, has shops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, but this will be its first foray into B.C.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Interior.
At the outdoor gear91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s opening event, there will be several promotions that could result in winning a prize.
Retail isn91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t the only thing giving the mall a new look. Steve Nash Fitness World opens this Saturday, April 9 from noon until 4 p.m., beside the Lee Valley location. There will be prizes and fun for all ages.
