Applications are now open for musicians to WOW Salmon Arm this summer.

The annual summertime tradition Wednesday on the Wharf (WOW) is tuning up for another season and looking for a mix of local and out-of-town talent to join the lineup. Presented by the Salmon Arm Arts Centre (SAAC), the open-air concert series typically has an eclectic mix of performers, with last year featuring country, an Indigenous indie-rocker, funk, jazz, soul, pop and more.

"The Salmon Arm Arts Centre is committed to the principle of Equity, Diversity, Accessibility and Truth and Reconciliation," SAAC said in the online application package. "We strive to reflect this in our programming."

Criteria for successful applicants includes:

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¢ Groups of two or more musicians including vocalists;

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¢ Lively and upbeat music/lyrics;

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¢ An engaging repertoire;

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¢ Able to fill two 45-minutes sets with an equal mix of original content and covers.

The by-donation WOW concerts will take place Wednesday evenings in Marine Peace Park through July and August, with the event having taken place annually since 1993 except for a two-year hiatus during the pandemic. It's family friendly and people are encouraged to bring picnics and soak up the sun while enjoying live music.

Applications are available online and must be submitted by March 1.
