Ayush Pal has opened a PizzaForno vending machine on Okanagan College's Kelowna campus.
He held a grand opening on Feb. 25 with free pizza and prizes to show students how it works.
Pal explained that the pizzas are hand rolled and flash frozen before being stocked into the machine's fridge. With six toppings to choose from, people can walk right up to the vending machine, place an order through the touch screen, and have a ready to eat pizza dispensed in three to four minutes.
"I've travelled extensively and this concept is there across the globe," Pal said.
The pizza machine will be open 24/7 outside the entrance of Skaha Place student housing. Pal said he stops by every morning to restock the pizzas and ensure the machine is operating properly.
"Okanagan College was really helpful when I reached out... They were really looking for campus food options because a lot of the [other campus food options] close down early."
Pal commented that the machine allows a more affordable option for students needing a late night or early morning meal without using delivery services or having to venture off campus.
The new machine is PizzaForno's third to launch in B.C.
