The occupants of a home at 1450 Gordon Dr. in Kelowna were able to flee their house after it caught on fire at about 8:30 a.m. this morning.
Kelowna Fire Department Capt. Dennis Miller said there were at least two occupants confirmed in the house at the time who escaped the flames, but others may have been living in the house as well.
Miller said the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed at this point as the investigation continues, but the damage to the house interior was significant.
He said the fire department responded to the call at 8:45 a.m., to find the inside of the structure on fire with exterior damage to the home most noticeable at the rear of the house.
"Everyone got out safe but there is a lot of damage to the interior of the house caused by the fire," said Miller, who added he couldn't confirm a damage estimate at this point.
