Salmon Arm Secondary musical theatre students will be starting the new year on a mean streak.
The Grade 11/12 class is rehearsing for their upcoming presentation of Mean Girls Jr., a musical based on the film written by Tina Fey. The story revolves around Cady Heron, a home-schooled student who transfers from Africa to an American public high school, where she befriends school outsiders Damian Hubbard and Janis Sarkasian. Heron's new friends persuade her to infiltrate the "Plastics," a clique consisting of the school's most popular girls.
The play, which includes some mature content, runs Jan. 14 to 18, with doors opening at 5:40 p.m. and showtime at 6. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Jan. 18 (in addition to the 6 p.m. show).
Tickets, $15 each, are on sale now at the SAS Sullivan office, and will also be available at the door. It will be assigned seating so theatre-goers will want to get their tickets asap.
Also taking the stage in the new year are the SAS dance 11/12 students with a recital on Jan. 23 and 24. The recital begins at 6 p.m. and tickets, $10, will be available at the door.
