Six artists have been chosen to display their works in the 2017 Penticton Public Sculpture Exhibition.
The artists range from local creators to the other side of the world: Zohreh Vahidifard, Iran; Clint George, Penticton; Patrick Field, Castlegar, Okanagan Falls; Paul Reimer, Cranbrook; Serge Mozhnevsky, Coquitlam and Michael Hermesh, Summerland.
The sculpture exhibition was proposed and approved last summer, and a call for artists was issued in November. Those applications were reviewed by a local jury made up of Arts, Creative and Cultural Innovations Committee members and three community members, who selected the final participants.
The works will be unveiled May 6 at five locations along the Okanagan waterfront and one in the centre of the roundabout near the Penticton Art Gallery.
The selected artists work with a wide range of media from wood to metal to marble and their influences range from indigenous culture to the natural beauty of the BC wilderness.
