Peachland residents urged to be prepared as wildfire burns near community

The Spring Lake fire is 4.5 km west of the community and about 2.2 hectares in size

The human-caused Spring Lake wildfire west of Peachland started Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

As a wildfire burns a few kilometres from Peachland, residents are urged to register for evacuation alerts and emergency activations.

The Spring Lake fire is 4.5 km west of the community and about 2.2 hectares in size. The BCWildfire Service has stated the blaze was human-caused.

The District of Peachland has asked residents to sign up for notifications, and include any visitors, during the wildfire season.

Property owners are also urged to prepare emergency plans and have a 72-hour go kit ready, including medicines and pet supplies.
