2 dead in single-vehicle MVI on Trans Canada Hwy near Cache Creek

The driver and one of two passengers were pronounced dead on the scene, one person was taken to hospital

Emergency crews responded to a a single-vehicle collision in the 1900 block of the Trans Canada Highway outside Cache Creek on Sunday, Dec. 1 at around 10:15 p.m.

First responders attended the scene, 3.3 km east of Cache Creek, near the turn to Semlin Valley Ranch. They located the driver and two passengers associated with the SUV. The driver and one of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, the other passenger was found outside of the vehicle with serious, life-threatening injuries and transported to hospital.

Mounties believe the vehicle was travelling far above the speed limit when it veered off the road, striking a culvert and overturning.

The collision remains under investigation.
