By the end of November, the faces of Lake Country Mayor Blair Ireland and Councillor Bib Patel will be a little harder to see.

At the start of the month, the duo shaved their faces clean so they could take part in Movember, which is a movement in which men grow moustaches to raise awareness of various men's health issues.

"Using the moustache as the driving symbol of the movement, Movember focuses on the three key areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention," stated the District of Lake Country in a Facebook post.

The movement aims to increase early detection of cancer and other illnesses to prevent early death.

The district is planning on sharing a photo of Ireland and Patel at the end of the month to show their moustache growth and share conversations the two had with others throughout the month in regard to health behaviour and awareness. 

Since being founded in 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised $837 million.
