Pedestrian struck on Highway 97 in Lake Country

A pedestrian was struck at Highway 97 and Okanagan Centre Road East in Lake Country around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Traffic has been slowed on Highway 97 in Lake Country after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The incident happened at the intersection of the highway's southbound lanes and Okanagan Centre Road East, limiting traffic down to one lane. 

"The pedestrian was crossing the road at the same time a vehicle was turning right," RCMP confirmed in an email.

RCMP, fire crews, and emergency services were all on scene. The pedestrian was being treated at the scene and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
