Reports are circulating on social media that Curtis Sagmoen has once again been spotted on dating apps, and while a dating app profile by the name of Trevor may be someone else using Sagmoen's pictures, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is urging anyone who comes across the profile to report it to police.

The notorious North Okanagan man who resides on Salmon River Road has a lengthy list of probation orders stemming from crimes against sex workers. He was convicted in December 2019 of wearing a disguise and threatening a sex worker with a shotgun, and was again found guilty two months later, this time of assault, after he rammed a sex worker with an ATV at his parents91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ Salmon River Road property.

In October 2020, RCMP issued a warning to any person involved in the sex trade to not respond to any requests for their services or engage in any activity in the Salmon River Road area, where Sagmoen was known to reside. RCMP again issued the warning to sex workers on April 11, 2022.

Due to probation orders, Sagmoen is prohibited from using mobile communication devices aside from very specific uses. According to the BC Prosecution Service, he is alleged to have breached his probation order by possessing a cell phone on Nov. 18, 2024. He was charged with the probation breach on Dec. 3 and released on bail Dec. 5. He has an arraignment hearing at the Salmon Arm Law Courts scheduled for Jan. 21.

The claim there is a person appearing to be Sagmoen going by the name of Trevor on dating apps.

Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said the RCMP is aware of the social media posts "and would ask anyone who has specific information to please report it immediately and directly to police so it can be investigated."

Sagmoen made headlines when the remains of 18-year-old Traci Genereaux were found on his parent's Salmon River Road farm in October 2017. Police consider Genereaux's death to be suspicious, but neither Sagmoen nor anyone else has been charged in relation to her death.
