Hockey hasn91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t been too friendly to the Kelowna Rockets lately.

On Tuesday night (Nov. 14), the team lost their eighth game in a row, falling 5-3 to the Victoria Royals.

Early in the first period, Marek Rocak took advantage of an bouncing puck and found the back of the net, making it 1-0 Kelowna.

But Victoria bounced back in the second half of the frame, scoring three times making it 3-1 after the first. In the period, the Rockets managed just four shots on goal.

The Royals continued their hit play when the puck dropped on the second period as they added two more goals in the first 2:27 of the frame to make it 5-1.

Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s comeback fell short as Ethan Neutens and Tij Iginla scored to make it 5-3 but that91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s as close as the Rockets would make it. Iginla91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s goal was his team-leading 15th goal of the season.

Rockets goaltender Jari Kykkanen allowed all five Victoria goals before Jake Pilon came into the game, making 14 saves the rest of the way.

With the loss, the Rockets have now lost eight in a row, with their last win coming on Oct. 25. They are now 7-11-2-0 on the season, sitting ninth in the WHL91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Western Conference.

Maybe being back on home ice this Saturday, Nov. 18 will help the team but the competition doesn91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t get any easier as they welcome the first place Prince George Cougars (14-5-0-0) to Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
