Kelowna RCMP is looking for the public91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s help with the investigation into the Knox Mountain wildfire on Canada Day.
Police suspect the fire was human-caused and are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity at the top or near the base of the mountain between 12 and 2 p.m. on July 1 to contact them.
The image below shows an area shaded in green which had a direct sightline to the location of the fire.
Members of the public in this area could potentially have video footage of any suspicious activity.
RCMP believe the locations with the best angles are bounded by the following streets:
- Eastern boundary - Richter Street;
- Southern boundary - Clement Avenue;
- Western boundary - Okanagan Lake/Manhattan Point;
- Northern boundary - Central Avenue.
The area shaded in red is not in the sightline, therefore not visible to the area in question.
If members of the public have high-resolution video footage of Knox Mountain or any information related to this investigation, they are asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2023-37249.
