Crime tape crosses Martin Street as RCMP investigate a cyclist hit by a car on Feb. 7.

The 400 block of Penticton's Martin Street remained closed as RCMP investigated the scene after a cyclist was hit by a car several hours earlier.

Crime scene tape stretched across the road and around the sidewalk and bike lane, where a car remained in the exit to the parking lot next to the Three Gables Liquor Store.

In the early afternoon of Feb. 7, an older male cyclist was struck by the car. It was not clear whether he was in the bike lane at the time of the collision.

Paramedics and the Penticton Fire Department responded to the scene, with paramedics performing CPR on the man.

The man's bike had been moved to the sidewalk, and one tire appeared to have warped slightly in the collision.

The man himself had a head wound, and no helmet was apparent at the scene.

The Western News has reached out to the Penticton RCMP for more information.
