A UBC Okanagan professor wants to address head-on the skepticism about the science behind climate change.
Greg Garrad will host a panel discussion on international perspectives on climate change, to take place at the Kelowna ARt Gallery, 115 Water St., on Tuesday, June 7, 6 p.m.
Garrard, with the faculty of creative and critical studies sustainability at UBCO, is hosting a three-day workshop on this issue at the university, one component of which will be the public forum.
Garrard91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s workshop involves a team of international humanities researchers who will examine climate skepticsand the questions surrounding the debate on climate change: Who are they? What view of science and nature do they hold? Are they all conservatives? Is there any meaningful difference between 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ˜skepticism91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ and 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ˜denialism91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™? How does climate skepticism vary between nations?
The forum is open to the public but there is a registration fee. To find out more details, and to register for the workshop, contact greg.garrard@ubc.ca by Monday, June 30.
