The holiday season is wonderful time and a season of joy, peace and goodwill 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ” or at least that91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s how it is portrayed.
This is a time for gift-giving, family gatherings and special events when people get together for seasonal bliss. Idyllic images about, and there is the expectation of an amazing, happy time of the year.
But the season can also be a busy, hectic time, with holiday shopping and other preparations in a quest to make the celebrations perfect.
In spite of the best preparations, the festive season activities don't always go as planned. There are a lot of hopes riding on the holiday season, and the reality may not match the ideal. No day and no season can live up to every expectation, and the celebrations do not have to be perfect.
This is a time of excitement and happiness around this time of the year, but it can also take an emotional toll. It can be difficult for those who have recently lost a loved one, for those who are dealing with financial stresses and other pressures and for those who are overwhelmed with the seasonal events.
For some, the past year has been defined by significant challenges and uncertainties. Festive events can feel difficult as a result.
There is nothing wrong with slowing down or canceling events if the season seems too overwhelming. And it91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s fine to reach out to friends and family or to look for other resources for support.
Self-care during this or any time of the year should be seen as a necessity, not a luxury.
And if a friend or family member is struggling, take the time to offer a helping hand. Such gestures will be treasured far more than any gift or meal or special event.
Kindness and compassion can go a long way to making spirits bright during this season, for ourselves and for others.
