Nominations are now open for Kraft Hockeyville 2025, a title that Enderby had fun rallying for as one of last year's finalists.

Communities are invited to get Krafty for their local arena as nominations are now open for Kraft Hockeyville 2025.

With passionate hockey fans and several locally produced NHL players, the Shuswap could be a contender for the title that comes with $250,000 for arena upgrades and the chance to host a pre-season league game. Though that honour went to Elliott Lake, Ont. last year, Enderby was one of the top four finalists, while Lumby won in 2016 and hosted a match between the LA Kings and Edmonton Oilers.

The initiative started in 2006 to "address the growing costs associated with maintaining or upgrading aging sports and recreation infrastructure," and has since given over $5.1 million to 101 communities.

"Supporting communities has always been the heart and soul of Kraft Hockeyville," Kraft Heinz Canada president Simon Laroche said in a media release. "We're proud to help grow the future of the game; from a small local rink to thee big leagues, we believe that hockey has the power to inspire greatness. So, Canada, lace up your skates and dream big 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ“ together we're building a stronger, more accessible sport."

During the nomination period, communities can share stories that highlight their connection to the game and their local arenas. To nominate an arena, people can go online to  and find their facility and answer three questions about the community, arena and desired upgrades, then the share the Arena Rally Page link to gather support.

To help promote the program and stir up friendly competition among Canadian communities, Kraft Hockeyville is partnering with NHL player and Olympic gold medallist Carey Price as the official ambassador.

"Growing up, hockey was more than a game. It was a community cornerstone where I formed lifelong friendships," he said in a media release. "Now, as the Kraft Hockeyville 2025 ambassador, I'm excited to help inspire the next generation of hockey greats. The spark in a young goalie's eye after great save or the joy on a player's face when they score 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ“ that's what drives me. This program lets players across Canada experience that magic."

Nominations are open until the end of the day on Sunday, March 2.
