For just the second time in franchise history, the Kelowna Rockets could have two players chosen in the opening round of the NHL entry draft.
In the final rankings released this week by Central Scouting, defenceman Cal Foote is ranked 12th among North American skaters, while forward Kole Lind sits at No. 21, up two spots from the midterm report.
A native of Englewood, CO, the 18-year-old Foote had six goals and 57 points to lead all Rockets91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ blueliners in scoring in 2016-17.
Lind, 18, from Shaunavon, SK had a breakout season, leading Kelowna in scoring with 30 goals and 57 assists for 87 points.
In 2008 in Ottawa, the Rockets had two players selected in the opening round for the first time. Luke Schenn was taken fifth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, while Tyler Myers went 12th to the Buffalo Sabres.
The 2017 NHL entry draft is set for June 23 and 24 in Chicago.
