Kyrkostas and Løkkeberg lead West Kelowna Warriors past Vernon Vipers

Jackson Kyrkostas and Johannes Løkkeberg led the way as the West Kelowna Warriors beat the Vernon Vipers 4-1 on Wednesday night (Nov. 29).

They each collected a goal and an assist in the first period as Kyrkostas scored at the 7:10 mark and Løkkeberg scored at the 13:33 mark as the Warriors took a 2-0 lead.

Early in the second period, Løkkeberg scored his second of the game, seventh of the season, assisted by Kyrkostas to take a 3-0 lead into the third.

Just 47 seconds into the third period, Vernon got on the board when Shea Busch scored a powerplay goal to make it 3-1.

But the Warriors regained their three-goal lead when Jack Farrell scored his first goal of the season at the 4:34 mark of the frame.

Warriors goaltender Rorke Applebee made 26 saves in the win while Vipers91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ Ethan David made 29 saves in the loss.

With the win, the Warriors gained some ground on the Vipers as they improved to 13-6-2-0 and sit third in the BCHL91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Interior Conference. Vernon is second with in conference with a record of 15-6-1-0.

The Warriors are back in action this weekend as they91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™re in Merritt on Friday night and back at home on Saturday night to welcome the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to town. Friday night91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday is at 7 p.m.

For the Vipers, they welcome Prince George to town on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
