Owls claim B.C. boys title

Persistence and experience both paid off for the KSS Owls boys91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ curling team.

After a fifth-place showing in 2015 and finishing sixth last year, the third time was a charm for Logan Miron91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s rink who captured the 2017 B.C. high school championship.

Consisting of all Grade 12 players, the Owls clinched the title with a 12-2 win over St. George in Saturday91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s final game in Smithers.

The Owls sets themselves up for the gold medal thanks to a pair of convincing wins on Friday: 14-1 over Quesnel and 7-1 over Port Coquitlam.

The B.C. champs from KSS are skip Logan Miron, third Ewan Murray, second Ramsay Murray, lead Bryan Cresswell, coach Justin Nillson, and sponsor Lorne Buna.

The Owls qualified for provincials after winning the regional title last month at McArthur Island in Kamloops.

The KSS girls team finished a strong third out of eight teams at the B.C. high school championship in Smithers.

After defeating Ballenas (Parksville) 6-5 on Saturday morning, the Owls advanced to the second-third place game where they lost to Riverside.

The KSS girls are: skip Katelyn McGillivray, third Anna Trigalet, second Erika Ellis, lead Naiomi Hayward, alternate Grace Milligan and coach Bob Harris.
