Taylor 8th at B.C. juniors

Two top 10s at provincial events the last two weeks for Kelowna golfer

Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Tiegan Taylor finished in eighth place at the B.C. Junior Girls Golf Championship.

Taylor carded a four-day score of +16 over par (72-83-73-67) 304 last week at the Okanagan Golf Club91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Bear Course.

If not for an uncharacteristic second round of 11-over 83, the Kelowna Golf and Country Club member could have challenged for a top-five finish.

A week earlier, Taylor finished in a tie for ninth at the B.C. Women91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Amateur in Vernon. Taylor will attend the University of New Mexico this fall on a golf scholarship.

Emma Sabbagh, also of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, finished in a tie for 20th (317).

The story of the week at the junior girls championship was Richmond91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Alisha Lau who led from wire-to-wire to post a 9-under par score and win by 10 shots.

B.C. junior boys91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¦

The Kelowna Golf and Country Club91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Marcus Apchin tied for 16th overall at the B.C. Junior Boys Golf Championship. Last week in Squamish, Apchin compiled a four-day total of 13-over par, 301 (73-74-83-73).

Nik Federko from West Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Two Eagles was 19th at 304, while Cole Wilson from the Okanagan Golf Club placed 42nd out of 152 competitors.
