The surroundings of home provided the right atmosphere for the Okanagan College Coyotes who got on their season on track with three wins in four games in Canadian College Baseball Conference action.
After going 1-3 the previous weekend to kick off the 2016 season in Kamloops, the Coyotes won their home opener Friday night at Elks Stadium, 10-0 over the University of Calgary Dinos. Zac Yandeau earned the victory with a seven-hit shutout. Braden Heyland paced the OC offence with three hits and three RBIs, while Jared Dulaba drove in two runs.
In the first game on Saturday, the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs downed the Yotes 6-2. Liam Wyatt drove in a pair of runs in the loss.
OC then bounced back with a 12-3 drubbing of Calgary. Erick Junnola had three hits and three RBIs, while Ryo Shishido also drove in three runs.
Cole Parusinni went seven innings on the mound for the win.
In the weekend finale, the Coyotes (4-4) took care of the Dawgs 6-2. Brandon Becking scattered six hits over eight innings, while Shishido and Aaron Barrett each drove in two runs.
OC returns to action this weekend with four home games.
The Coyotes will host the Dinos at 6 p.m. on Friday, then again at noon on Saturday.
The Yotes will then face the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners at 6 p.m. Saturday, and again at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
