One man has been sent to hospital after a car spun out of control following a collision at the intersection of Trethewey Street and Simon Avenue on Friday (Nov. 15) morning.
The man was struck and thrown and the dog he was walking managed to avoid contact with one of the cars.
The street was closed for sometime this morning, with police and ambulance on-scene.
The Abbotsford Police Department stated that the incident occurred at 8:51 a.m.
The white northbound vehicle failed to stop for a red light at the intersection, colliding with a grey vehicle proceeding into the intersection to make a south bound left turn off Simon and onto Trethewey.
As a result of the collision, the white vehicle bounced off the grey one and proceeded to strike a pedestrian who was walking a dog and proceeding eastbound across the road at the intersection within the north side crosswalk.
The APD confirmed that all parties involved suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The dog, known as Winnie, was unharmed.
The offending vehicle has been seized by police for a mechanical inspection. Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors. The file remains open and under investigation at this time.
