Hundreds of people gathered at Rutland Centennial Park for the annual Rutland Winter Light Up on Nov. 25.

Festivities started at 1 p.m. with live music, vendors, hot chocolate, outdoor activities for the kids, a chance to write a letter to Santa or get a photo taken with the big guy.

At 4 p.m. the choirs from three local school took the stage to engage the crowd in a number of Christmas carols.

Local politicians spoke to the crowd before Mayor Tom Dyas flipped the switch to light the very large Christmas tree in the park.

A holiday market was held across the street at Rutland Centennial Hall to round out the festivities.
