The Palestinian community of Burin has put out a call for action across the world.
On July 19, Kelowna residents are invited to a Kite Festival to show solidarity with the village located in the northern West Bank.
Hosted by Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East is putting on the event at the Central Okanagan United Church on Bernard Avenue.
People are invited to bring their own kites or make one on-site between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., the group will walk or drive to a nearby park to fly the kites together.
Those who don't have a kite or wish to make one are still invited to attend and learn more about Burin with a short film on life under military occupation.
