West Kelowna Warriors perfect Peachland win record scratched
The rebranded Peachland Warriors fell 3-2 in overtime to the Chilliwack Chiefs Saturday (Jan. 27) night.
West Kelowna paid tribute to their neighbours to the south for the third consecutive year.
The loss drops their record to 2-1 wearing the peach-coloured jerseys. In 2021 and 2022, the Warriors beat Prince George, winning 5-0 and 4-3.
Against the Chiefs, Jack Pridham (4) opened the scoring for West Kelowna, with assists from Trent Wilson and Callum Hughes, at 12:14 of the first period.
Chilliwack91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Willyam Gendron tied the game five minutes later.
Felix Caron put the Warriors up 2-1 with his 23rd goal of the season at 5:13 of the second period, assisted by Hughes and Callum.
It was nearly halfway through the third when Chilliwack tied the game 2-2 with a goal by Nathan Morin.
The Chiefs91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ Parker Murray scored the overtime winner.
West Kelowna went 1-3 on the power play and outshot the Chiefs 31-25.
The Warriors91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ record is now 23-7-6-0, good for second place in the Interior Division.
West Kelowna is on the road for four games starting with Nanaimo on Feb. 2, Alberni Valley on Feb. 3, Cranbrook on Feb. 9 and Trail on Feb. 10.
