More dreaming. More giving. More lives to be changed.
The 40th annual Kalamalka Rotary Club Dream Auction Sept. 16 at the Prestige Vernon Lodge Banquet Rooms lived up to its pre-auction motto: 40 years of dreaming; 40 years of giving; 40 years of changing lives.
The sold-out event raised $254,454.
"It was a really good crowd and everything was really well done," said Kal Rotary president Brian Reid of the milestone auction.
The highest bid on the multiple items available for auction was $18,000 for a trip to one of the world's greatest sports events: either the Kentucky Derby horse race, or the Ryder Cup golf tournament.
The auction was conducted by the father-son pair of Don and Brody Raffan.
The money raised funds and supports local and global initiatives that make a positive impact on communities worldwide, which has been the goal of the local Rotary club for the past four decades.
91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ‹Local singer/songwriter Andrew Allen and artist Jordan Perkins entertained the early auction guest arrivals with world-class performances. Vernon band Feet First had the crowd rocking post-auction.
"A special thank you to the Vernon Prestige Lodge and Conference Centre for their outstanding food, service, and professional care throughout the night," said the club on social media. "Your team91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s hospitality helped create a seamless and memorable experience for all our guests.
"We also want to give a huge shoutout to Vintage Origami, who conceived and brought to life the stunning decor that transformed the room into a magical space. The ambiance was simply breathtaking, and your creativity set the perfect stage for this milestone event."
