West Kelowna Fire Rescue (WKFR) came to the aid of two hikers stuck on Boucherie Mountain on Friday night.
Around 5 p.m. Jan. 17, WKFR was called out to help a hiker in medical distress at the top of the mountain.
WKFR responded to the scene with two rescues, one engine, one safety officer, and one command unit.
Five hours later, at 10 p.m., fire crews successfully completed their mission as they found and saved the two hikers, getting them down the mountain safely. Due to the steep conditions, a rope rescue was executed.
The injured hiker was taken care of by emergency services.
"WKFR would like to remind the public when hiking at this time of year to stay on marked trails, wear appropriate clothing, and give yourself enough time to get off the mountain as conditions change rapidly," WKFR's press release stated.
